Global Pinoy Bazaar on Aug 22- 24 at World Trade Center

As the Global Pinoy Bazaar moves to the World Trade Center for its tenth installment, Yabang Pinoy proves the quality of Filipino brands threefold.

For eight years running, the Global Pinoy Bazaar has been successfully championing the excellence of proudly Filipino brands, proving that we can compete with big international labels. The flagship project of Yabang Pinoy has built a community where business owners focus on craftsmanship and consumers expect loyalty.

In the 10th Global Pinoy Bazaar on 22-24 August 2014, Yabang Pinoy moves to the World Trade Center, a venue three times larger, to showcase the breadth of Filipino entrepreneurialism. The lineup features almost two hundred local brands and business concepts, from loyal merchants to budding startups, in art, design, music, travel, technology, home, fashion, and food and beverage.

“A Filipino entrepreneur is someone who believes that Filipinos have the ability to exceed or at least be at par with established international brands in terms of product quality, process efficiencies, marketing, and branding,” says Mark Carrillo of men’s lifestyle brand Fledge Clothing. The new entrant to the bazaar is equally as committed to product quality. “People are always surprised when they learn that our products are locally made. We are joining Global Pinoy Bazaar to support the local industry, and show the quality of local independent brands,” says Mark.

This conviction is not lost in Martha Rodriguez of Vesti Clothing, which has been joining the bazaar since the brand was founded four years ago.” I started Vesti in October 2010 to showcase the beauty of hand-woven indigenous fabrics from Mindanao. I joined Global Pinoy Bazaar in November the same year because I felt that it was the perfect venue where people appreciate local art, culture, and heritage.”

The bazaar is also marked by various activities, from talks by crowdfunding platform Spark Project and app developer JoomaJam, to workshops by crafts studio Craft Manila, and a jamming session by dance school Samba School Imperatriz Filipinense, among others.

The Global Pinoy Bazaar also coincides with Buwan ng Wika and with the “Made in the Philippines Products Week,” as declared by Presidential Proclamation No. 76.

By showcasing globally competitive Filipino brands, Yabang Pinoy strives to support and empower local micro, small, and medium enterprises, and develop the community of globally competitive Filipino brands.

The 10th Global Pinoy Bazaar will be held on 22-24 August 2014, from 11am to 9pm at the World Trade Center. Please visit for more information.

Just right now, the this photo is just being trending online. Everybody’s looking for this girl (wearing a DLSU jacket) who had no respect for Kiefer Ravena. Even if she’s from the rivalry school, it’s not good to see how they treat other UAAP Players from different school. btw shes not from la salle, she is from Assumption College as rumor said.

This girl didn’t show respect to the phenom kiefer ravena. She’s now trending on twitter and facebook.  She deactivate/private her account but she knows in twitter now as Kayla Leviste or @kaylaalevistee.

Deuter open it’s first concept store in philippines

Up in the mountains, they hold a compass, a couple of energy bars, a flashlight, and a hydration pack, among many others. On the beach, they carry a change of clothes, a sarong, and some sunscreen. In school, they’re filled with children’s books and notebooks, artworks and pencils, and maybe even a pack of popcorn. We are talking about backpacks, of course.

In its most of basic of forms, a backpack is but a sack carried on one’s back, secured by shoulder straps. But for Deuter, one of the most trusted brands in the world of outdoor sports, the backpack is a passport to great adventures. It is no wonder then that the backpack has become a veritable must-have not only for professional athletes and weekend outdoorsmen, but for urban warriors as well.

But the call of the great outdoors proved to be too tempting to resist, and soon, Deuter was outfitting pioneering mountaineering expeditions with backpacks and tents, putting their manufacturing skills and expertise to the test. In 1938, German mountain climber Anderl Heckmair brought along a Deuter backpack when he led the first successful ascent of the North Face of the Eiger. Fifteen years later, Deuter was with Austrian mountaineer Hermann Buhl and his crew when they conquered Nanga Parbat in Pakistan, the ninth highest mountain in the world.

Today, Deuter provides the best fitting backpack for virtually all types of outdoor adventure, from hiking, biking, and trekking to mountain climbing and skiing. It also makes a wide selection of highly functional, top quality outdoor products from bags and sleeping bags to bike accessories and hydration systems. For families who like going on weekend hikes and camping under the stars, Deuter has developed kiddie-sized sleeping bags and child carriers with ventilated back systems. For city dwellers who have to traverse the urban jungle every day, Deuter offers a line of satchels, laptop bags, and duffel bags.

But at the heart of Deuter is its  unwavering passion for the great outdoors. This is evident in each and every one of its products, which have been engineered to perform well outdoors and withstand the changing moods of nature, giving its wearer more than ample support. At the Deuter concept store located at the SM Mall of Asia, its amazingly functional designs will be on full display. Leading the pack is Deuter’s world-renowned AirComfort System. By creating a space between the pack and the wearer’s back, this revolutionary mesh back system reduces perspiration by 25 percent. With its three-way ventilation, Deuter’s AirComfort System decreases the wearer’s average heart rate and load on the cardiovascular system, increasing his level of endurance. Carrying fully-loaded packs all day long wouldn’t seem such a burden with Deuter’s AirComfort System. With groundbreaking innovations such as this, Deuter makes exploring the world a fun and fulfilling pursuit!

Founded in 1898, Deuter has been pioneering premium outdoor equipment for over 115 years. It first made its mark by providing the Bavarian Royal Mail with mailbags and post sacks. Eventually, the company developed backpacks, knapsacks, satchels, and tents, primarily for the German military.

What’s new on The Medical City Cardiac and Vascular Catheterization Laboratory

Recently the Medical City Cardiac and Vascular Catheterization Laboratory (TMC Cath Lab) has expanded its capabilities. The Cath Lab has acquired its 2nd Artis Zee, a state-of-the-art multi-purpose imaging system. The equipment allows for clearer, more accurate images of the arteries of the heart, brain, internal organs and limbs. In 2013, the Cath Lab performed more than one thousand coronary procedures, more than any other Cath Lab in a private institution in the country. With the addition of a second imaging system, the TMC Cardiovascular Center hopes to address the treatment of cardiovascular emergencies in a more effective and timely manner. Interventional cardiologists can perform longer vascular procedures without compromising access to an emergency procedure if needed.

“Those who depend on us to take care of their cardiac patients can continue to rely on us for excellent care,” says Dr. Gregorio Martinez, Jr., Head of the Cardiac and Vascular Catheterization Laboratory and the Cardiovascular Center. Dr. Martinez clarifies that responding to cardiac cases, especially heart attacks, is time sensitive. Delays in treating a heart attack patient impact on the size of the damage to the heart muscle, and ultimately on the patient’s prognosis. Prompt diagnosis and right treatment within the specified time frame is vital.

“The TMC Cardiovascular Center has an Acute Myocardial Infarction Program which targets a 90 minute Door-to- Balloon time. This means that a heart attack patient who walks through the doors of our emergency room should have the blocked coronary artery opened in the Cath Lab within 90 minutes. TMC’s expanded Cath Lab capacity, backed by experienced and highly competent interventional cardiologists and support staff who are trained to handle such complex cases, can assure patients of the best possible and the most timely cardiac care,” explains Dr. Martinez.

“The expansion of TMC Cath lab will raise the bar for cardiac care at The Medical City,” says Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Michelangelo Sabas. “Adding a second Cath Lab system not only provides us with the latest technology but will also allow us to care for more patients and reduce the backlog of patients waiting for diagnostic testing. It enables us to care for multiple urgent care patients at once. We can see more patients with less disruption of patient care with this second Cath Lab system.” Interventional procedures done in the TMC Cath Lab are minimally invasive treatments where doctors use catheters, introduced through a small skin puncture, to access the heart, the coronary arteries, the arteries to the brain and various organs in order to treat abnormal conditions. Furthermore, the TMC Cath Lab offers state of the art technology for coronary angiography and angioplasty, valvuloplasty, pacemaker implantation, peripheral vascular angiography and angioplasty, embolization procedures, cerebral angiography and coiling of intracerebral aneurysms.

It has enhanced capabilities for Fraction Flow Reserve (FFR), Thrombectomy (AngioJet), and the visualization of implanted stents (CLEARstent). FFR measurements, which are done during the angiogram procedure, help identify lesions that restrict blood flow to the heart and therefore serve as accurate guides on whether a borderline narrowing should be opened up with a stenting procedure. Thrombectomy is a procedure to extract blood clots and therefore restore blood flow to arteries and veins clogged with clots (thrombus), while CLEARstent is a stent visualization enhancement tool that makes possible the placement of stents in complex coronary angioplasty.

The TMC Cath Lab is the leading Cath Lab in the country for coronary angiography and angioplasty via radial artery approach. Angioplasty via the radial artery approach makes use of the wrist artery instead of the groin artery as access. This enables patients to go home the same day after the procedure and resume their normal activities the next day. Approximately nine out of ten coronary procedures in the Cath Lab are done via the wrist artery.

“At the TMC Cath Lab, we have a comprehensive range of cutting-edge equipment that can be utilized for more accurate diagnosis and effective and safer treatment. At The Medical City, we treat each patient not as a ‘case’ but as a unique individual who deserves the best informed medical care. This is why acquiring technology which can give us a clearer, more accurate assessment of each patient’s individual case is paramount,” says Dr. Martinez.

here’s a new style that’s been making waves and ruling the podium of late, and its name is Salice!

Designed and crafted in Italy, Salice (“Sa-Li-Che”) combines function and fashion in a distinctly European look. Local athletes that have been seen sporting a pair include Filipino Elite Triathletes August Benedicto and Kim Mangrobang. Known international product ambassadors include the likes of cross-country skier Renato Pasini, sprint canoer Antonio Rossi and former professional cycling champion Alessandro Petacchi.

The backstory of Salice’s performance lenses is one of time-tested durability. In 1919, the Italian company initially manufactured heavy-duty goggles and sunglasses for industrial and military use. As the popularity of Vespa and Lambretta motorbikes grew in the post-war years, the expanded demand prompted the company to launch its own line of glasses for bikers and skiers.

The Salice range currently includes sport-specific models for motocross, skiing, cycling, running, and many other adrenaline-intensive activities, as well as leisure-oriented models for more laid-back pursuits.

All Salice models are built to withstand hard training, with all lenses having 100% protection against UVA, B, and C rays that easily penetrate regular lenses and cause severe damage to the eyes.

Aside from the UVA400 rating, the lenses come in a range of colors that merge aesthetics and added function. The Polarflex lens, for example offers greater visual contrast while the Chromolex lens changes color to sync with the surrounding light conditions. Even the basic lenses are mirrored, wide enough to block out grit and dust, and have anti-fog vents. Salice frames are characterized by a wraparounddesign with a soft nosepiece that firmly keeps them in place even during intense activity.

Salice eyewear is priced from P4,800 to P8,800. More information on Salice can be found at and  Facebook Page.
